We are excited to announce that we will again be joining forces with Unity House and Capital Roots to offer Thanksgiving food packages to customers. By working together for the past several years, we have been able to offer better quality food, including fresh local produce from Capital Roots and their network of local farmers, along with more efficient delivery of services through our partners at Unity House.
Here is the eligibility criteria that must be met:
· Customers must have used at least one CEO service within the last 12 months
· Customers must provide proof of income (at intake)
o SSI/SSD paperwork
o TANF
o Proof of SNAP benefits
o W2
o Paystubs (a month’s worth)
§ 2 if paid bi-weekly
§ 4 if paid weekly
· Customers must be in a household of 2 or more
· Households of 5+ will be eligible to receive 2 Food packages
· Limit is 2 food packages
Along with produce, each customer will get an assortment of dry goods and a gift certificate for their main dish. Intake will be contactless and completed by phone, customers will need to provide contact information and send in proof of income by e-mail or text. Once intake is complete customers will be sent a receipt by mail or e-mail with an appointment to pick up. In order to comply with CDC and government guidelines that limit crowds and require social distancing; appointments for pick-up will be spread out and divided up between CEO’s Community Resource Center (2328 5th Ave.) and Unity House (2431 6th Ave.) on November 23rd or 24th.
Sign-up starts Tuesday October 13th. There are a limited number of food packages available, so our neediest customers and customers who express interest should be encouraged to enroll as soon as possible. Customers can complete an intake and reserve their package(s) by calling Bernard Bennett at 272-6012 ext. 302. Customers can also sign up and reserve a package(s) at Unity House if they have received a service from Unity House within the last 12 months.
