Creating a Vaccinated Workforce

Mar 26, 2021 | COVID-19

The COVID 19 Vaccine is safe and free and becoming available to more demographic groups each month. We took a few minutes to interview two staff that have already gotten the vaccine in the 1a & 1b groups. You can learn more about the vaccine and make an appointment through the NY Website, the CEO HR department also sends updates when pop-up vaccination clinics become available. CEO is encouraging a fully vaccinated workforce, to keep our staff, families, and community safe!

Rachel Lassiter

Has had both doses of the Pfizer Vaccine

Why did you decide to get the vaccine?

The number one reason was that I didn’t want my mom to get sick. My mom has bad breathing problems, and I worry about her. I wanted to keep her, myself, and the people around me safe.

Where did you get the vaccine?

I got it at Ellis hospital, through a referral through my mother.

What was the process like?

It was so easy. I went in and registered with the hospital staff, answered the CDC questions, and then I waited for a nurse to be available. Once one was, I got my shot, waited for fifteen minutes in the recovery area and was on my way.

Did you have any symptoms after the shot?

After the first shot my arm was sore. After the second one I got a very mild fever and was really tired. Within 12 hours I was back to feeling fine though.

Tracy Baker

Has had both doses of the Pfizer Vaccine

Why did you decide to get the vaccine?

I think that it’s important. I have a daughter who has some health issues, and with being face to face with people at work, it made sense. It made me nervous not being protected, and this was a way to keep my family and myself safe.

Where did you get the vaccine?

The SUNY- UAlbany Campus Vaccination site

What was the process like?

You pull into the site, and they direct you where to park. You go into a big tent, and the entrance staff checks you in. With the first shot I had to fill out some paperwork. You stand in line for just a minute or two, and then you go to a station and get your vaccine. Then wait for 15 minutes in the holding area.

There was plenty of parking and it wasn’t crowded. They were cleaning and sterilizing constantly too.

Did you have any symptoms after the shot?

Not really. I was a little bit tired after both. My arm was sore after the second one for a little over 24 hours.
