Community Action Day

Mar 30, 2021 | Community Action

In honor of Community Action Month, and after pausing in 2020, CEO would like to resume our long standing tradition of dedicating time in the month of May to improve our communities. The Senior Administrative Team has ear-marked Friday, May 14th, as Community Action Day. The schedule for the day will be as follows:

·       8am to 9:30am—Work or potential Community Action activities

·       10am to 11:30am—All Staff Zoom Meeting featuring keynote speaker, Arel Moodie

·       Lunch immediately following

·       12:30pm to 2pmWork or potential Community Action activities

·       2pmDismissal

We will be hosting a small socially distanced Fill the Truck event at the main CEO campus. This will be the fifth year of asking the community to help us stock our food pantry with toiletries and personal hygiene items to help those in need. The event will adhere to all CDC directed safety precautions.

Managers will be communicating with staff regarding center/program based planned activities in the coming weeks. We are encouraging all activities to be focused on:

·       Outside cleanup of areas immediately surrounding CEO buildings/centers, including gardening/planting in CEO’s locations.

·       Partnering with a local elder care community, and putting together a craft for them, or doing a potted plant/outside planting for their grounds.

These activities should provide a way to participate in Community Action Month while keeping staff safe. All staff will have the option to participate in a CEO organized activity, or to continue to work during the allotted time.

Managers will be in touch with you over the next couple of weeks to discuss more detailed information. We are looking forward to being able to pick up this tradition again this year.
