Dear CEO Staff,
I’d like to assure all staff that I am actively monitoring official updates of the COVID-19, referred to as Coronavirus. At this time, the Senior Administrative Team (SAT) is working diligently to review our internal emergency operations plans, monitoring staff illnesses, as well as any known child/customer illness. Our Facilities Department and our sub-contracted cleaning companies will be increasing their diligence in sanitizing high-traffic areas within all of our buildings. We will be following the guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), NYS Departments of Health (DOH) as well as the Rensselaer County Department of Health and various funding sources to plan and prepare for the possibility of a community level outbreak. I realize that the widespread media coverage of this outbreak can be overwhelming and confusing, so doing everything we can to focus on prevention remains our best approach at this time.
Below is what each person can do to minimize the spread of this virus as well as any infectious disease issues.
Prevention
There are currently no vaccines available to protect against this virus. Like with all viruses and illnesses, there’s a tremendous reliance on individual precautions. The NYS Department of Health recommends the following ways to minimize the spread of all respiratory viruses, including COVID-2019:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Minimize or avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Stay home when you are experiencing flu-like symptoms. If you have any concerns relating to your symptoms, please contact your doctor or utilize the telemedicine service we have for all staff at CEO which has no co-pays or cost. United Concierge Medicine is committed to returning calls from staff within 30 minutes. You can reach a doctor by calling 1-844-484-7362.
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when coughing or sneezing. If you use a tissue, throw it in the trash.
- Routinely clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
