Lots of exciting things going on at CEO this month! As you know, our “A Time for Tasting” fundraiser is fast approaching! We hope to see you at the Hilton Garden Inn on October 23rd!

The YouthBuild program has started working on their newest building project. The trusses have already been delivered:

CEO’s YouthBuild program is also excited to announce its partnership with Unity House to provide hot lunches to program participants. We are so thrilled that Unity house has enabled us to remove one more barrier to student learning by ensuring that our student’s basic needs are being met. The YouthBuild Student Advisory Council has taken the lead on the project, and both picks up and distributes the lunches from the Bethany house location to our two sites, daily.  We are proud of their dedication to the program and the leadership they have shown in taking on this responsibility.

The Financial Resource Center is looking forward to working with Youthbuild on financial literacy this month.

Last month, the STEHP program helped 16 families avoid eviction and two families restore their power while working out a payment arrangement with National Grid.

The Food Pantry is gearing up to complete a self-assessment to better serve the individuals that use the pantry and to potentially reduce the traffic within the building. The self-assessment team will look at all aspects of the Food Pantry to highlight the things that are already innovative and creative but to also make suggestions of ways to improve the experience for customers and staff.

The food pantry was also visited by a USDA inspector recently for a surprise audit, and it passed with flying colors! Food pantry staff also came away with some household items donated by the Regional Food Bank, which will be used as giveaways for customers who bring reusable shopping bags.

The Food Pantry has also begun its lists for holiday food baskets. Our joint Adopt-A-Family initiative with Unity House is also under way.

On October 9th, CEO will be hosting OCFS for a presentation on human trafficking at CEO’s JLB Center.

SRC Family Resource Center will be having an event on October 15th where parents can come to an open house, check out the new artwork going up in the gross motor room, and paint pumpkins with their children.

September and October are family dining months, and all Head Start centers will be participating with individual events.

WIC is holding their monthly Breastfeeding Support Group on October 17th

On October 24th, CAP COM will be distributing new winter coats to the kids at SSI, along with kids in the School 2 and School 12 UPK program.
