Last month CEO participated in a number of community activities in celebration of Community Action Day, and what an impact we made on our community! Below is an overview of all the activities.
- Our WIC staff put in some hard work at the Knickerbacker Park’s softball field, getting the field ready for the summer season!
- Members of our YouthBuild program and staff joined Leaders Leading Troy’s Youth (LLTY) as they hosted a picnic on Tuesday, May 31 in Prospect Park.
- The Troy Family Resource Center hosted a children’s clothing drive and sorted through the many tables of donations to get ready for a free community clothing store. Some of the donated clothes were also given to two families who recently lost everything in a fire.
- The staff at Schodack Family Resource Center hosted a community barbecue. Families were treated to a DJ playing music, and the kids enjoyed playing on the playground. They also planted a beautiful memory garden for a former student. Despite the raindrops, the staff was all smiles while providing free car washes!
- Rensselaer Family Resource Center hosted a community carnival full of fun games, activities and treats! Everyone had a great time getting their faces painted, playing games and there was even a clown!
- Staff from CEO’s Foster Grandparent Program, Food Pantry, and Community Health Project went to work at Unity House in the Bethany Community Meals program. There, they helped to prepare and serve the noon-time meal to community members.
- Staff from our Hoosick Falls site joined together at the Hoosick Falls Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation to give a face-lift to the grounds. Each year, our staff help with weeding, mulching and planting to make the exterior of the center more enjoyable for those who live, work, and visit there.
- A little rain couldn’t hold back our staff as they visited Denison Farm in Schaghticoke. While the weather may have changed their planned planting activities, our staff were still treated to a tour of the farm and learned some great activities to help bring the farm back to the children in our Head Start classrooms.
- CEO’s staff were on-hand at the Rensselaer County Department of Mental Health clinic in Troy to give the waiting room a much-needed facelift! CEO supported the project with funding through our Seeds for Success initiative, which provides seed funding to support lasting change in our community. And it was a lasting change that they created! The waiting room went from dull and uninviting to warm and comfortable, with a bright children’s area filled with toys and activities to entertain the children who visit the clinic.
- CEO staff hosted a community BBQ and book giveaway at our main site on 5th Ave in Troy. The rain couldn’t put a damper on their giving spirits!
