2019 Community Action Month Activities

It’s Community Action Month! The committee has been working hard behind the scenes with center and program managers to schedule a fun group of activities that will get staff out into the community! Below is a list of all activities, dates, and points of contact throughout the month.
HR is getting the T-shirts ready to distribute by the end of this week, so remember to wear your Community Action Month T-shirts, and take pictures at your activity! Please send pictures along to marketing@ceoempowers.org so we can promote the great work being done!

  • Friday May 10th | Fill the Truck Event| Organized by the Admin building staff (contact Nancy Uber nuber@ceoempowers.org) , soliciting donations for personal hygiene items and nonperishable food
  • Friday May 10th | Painting Sensory Paths | Organized by the Annex building staff (contact Lorell Fitzsimmons lfitzsimmons@ceoempowers.org ) – painting three sensory style paths (hopscotch, wavy walking path, etc) at the Griswold Heights Community Center
  • Friday May 10th | Playground cleanup 11th Ave & 120th St | Organized by Lansingburgh staff (contact Carolyn Hopkins-Lewis chopkins-lewis@ceoempowers.org )– clean up playground on 11th Ave. and 120th Street. Lansingburgh staff will also be visiting Kane’s Senior home with plants, and organizing at Lansingburgh Library
  • Friday May 10th | Visiting Schodack Senior Housing | Organized by Schodack staff (contact Melissa Fuss mfuss@ceoempowers.org ) – visiting, planting flowers and odd jobs / crafts at senior housing near the center  (Foster Grandparents will be recruiting and assisting this day)
  • Friday May 10th | 10th St Park Cleanup | Organized by the Urban Training Center (contact Michelle McBain mmcbain@ceoempowers.org ) – clean up 10th street park, paint retaining wall and benches, plant flowers
  • Friday May 10th | Food drive to stock CONSERNS-U | Organized by Rensselaer staff (contact Tracy Baker tbaker@ceoempowers.org ) – food drive to stock CONSERNS – U pantry
  • Friday May 10th | Griswold Heights Cleanup | Organized by Griswold Heights staff (contact Kelly Berbrick kberbrick@ceoempowers.org )– clean up around the community center fields
  • Friday May 10th | Greenway Trail Cleanup | Organized by Hoosick Falls staff (contact Jennifer Baisley jbaisley@ceoempowers.org ) – clean up liter on the Greenway Trail and community playground areas
  • Friday May 10th | Planting Flowers for Senior Homes | Organized by the Community Resource Center staff (contact Teresa Raso traso@ceoempowers.org) – planting flowers / pots and bringing them to residents at the Eddy, Van Rensselaer Manor, Senior Home in East Greenbush and Diamond Ridge home
  • Monday May 13th | Cleanup in Basketball court between Park Ave & Craigen St.| Organized by Carol Marrero cmarrero@ceoempowers.org – clean up park, add in a trash can and some benches to spruce up the park
  • Friday May 31st | Capital Roots Garden Cleanup | Organized by WIC (contact Melissa Saco msacco@ceoempowers.org ) – clean up, prep, and help with planting at a Troy Capital Roots garden location
