Emergency Closing Protocols

Feb 12, 2024 | General

In the event that a decision to issue an emergency closing or delay is made by the agency outside of normal agency operating hours, (after 4:00 p.m. Monday-Friday, or over a weekend) the information will be communicated via the agency’s website at www.ceoempowers.org  no later than 6:30 a.m. on the day impacted and also on CEO’s Facebook page.  Staff are expected to check the website and/or FB page for updated information.

If a decision to implement the emergency closing policy is made during normal agency operating hours, (8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday-Friday) the information will be communicated via email to all staff working within CEO-owned buildings.

Please note that due to limitations on wording imposed by television stations, the listings that appear on the TV via the school closing network is directed to customers.

All staff are required to follow the protocols outlined above or contact their supervisor for confirmation prior to their scheduled arrival time.

Any staff working within non-agency owned buildings will follow the emergency closing policy of their assigned office building.

Essential staff:

Any position that is classified as essential for agency operations may be excluded from the typical protocols and be asked to assist with the communication and preparation required to close or delay opening a program and notify staff and customers.  The required assistance may be provided on- or off-site as requested by management.

As of the date of this policy, essential staffing positions are identified as:

  • All Senior Administrative Team members
  • All Supervisors
  • BEST Staff members
  • IT Network Administrator

When no information is communicated, CEO will be opening as scheduled.
