As Rensselaer County’s Community Action Agency, CEO has joined the many already vocal community leaders in expressing our deep concern about the closure of Burdett Birthing Center and what that will mean for the future of this community. Burdett Birthing Center is the only maternal unit in Rensselaer County, and the removal of those services will leave the county without a labor and delivery center for pregnant women, exponentially affecting vulnerable residents for whom transportation out of the county will be a barrier, and creating health, safety, and quality of life issues for all.

Next Wednesday, August 23rd, from 6:30-8:30 pm, there will be a public forum at the RPI Chapel and Cultural Center (2125 Burdett Ave. Troy) for the many voices in support of saving Burdett Birth Center to come together. CEO is dedicated to this cause and will be in attendance. We have urged our community to join in support to #saveburdettbirthcenter, but want to also extend that invitation to our staff as well.
