Human Resources Department Updates

Aug 29, 2022 | Human Resources

Last week, we bid a fond farewell to Sara Goodwin-Tague, the HR Manager who has left the agency to pursue some new endeavors. This week, I’m happy to share that Tia Nunziato will assume the role of Acting HR Director while we work to assess and define the future structure of the HR Department.

As many of you may already know, a few years ago, Tia pursued and accomplished her professional development goals by becoming a Certified HR Professional, with the objective of helping to develop and support best HR practices within her area of responsibility.

She will continue her role and commitment to the Head Start and Early Head Start programs, as the nature of both positions has a lot of overlap. This interim position will offer her the opportunity to gain a better understanding of the technical aspects of HR and apply her unique and accomplished skillset to help shape the future of the department.

For your reference, the current HR Support Team members, in addition to myself and Tia, are Tabitha Owens, Samantha Therrien, who are tasked with Talent Acquisition, and Alyssa Garner who is the HR/Admin Assistant.  Nancy Uber is also assisting with employee leave management duties (yes, it takes a village). All of us can be found in the Administration Building on the first and second floors.  We are working to recruit for the other open positions within the department (and agency).

Although turnover can be challenging, it is also an opportunity for growth, development, and review of current practices, all of which are important to remain competitive in this current landscape of employment.  As we work to rebuild the HR Department, we are also continuing to advance some of the efforts recently shared on work-life integration, as well as a revised Onboarding and Orientation process for new hires.

We are also updating the COVID-19 protocols to better align with the CDC and NYSDOH recommendations to the best of our ability. We will share updates on all these efforts in the very near future.

If you have any HR-related questions please feel free to reach out to me or Tia or the other members of the HR Team.  We thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation as we continue to grow stronger together.

Enjoy the rest of your day,

Sue and the entire HR Team
