Our sincerest thanks to those of you that took the time to provide feedback in our recent IT survey! Your voice matters; see below for a summary of technology challenges disclosed in the survey and the IT Steering Committee’s response or plans related to those challenges:
Application Support
Multiple survey respondents indicated frustrations or challenges around some of the software systems or applications used at CEO, such as Cap60, COPA, or Teaching Strategies. These applications are owned by third parties, but there are experts on staff at CEO for each of these programs who can assist with troubleshooting or training.
- Cap60 – Renata Memole-Gwozdz rgwozdz@ceoempowers.org
- COPA – Rachel Lassiter rlassiter@ceoempowers.org
- Teaching Strategies – Jennifer Baisley jbaisley@ceoempowers.org
Passwords
Many survey respondents expressed challenges associated with passwords and the need to change them regularly. Passwords expire every 60 days and are required to by our auditors and funding sources. Passwords may be pre-emptively changed to avoid their expiration.
Color Printing
Some users expressed frustration related to color copying or printing. All copiers are set to default to print or copy in black and white. This is a cost saving measure as black and white pages cost significantly less than color pages and it only takes one mark in color to be considered and billed as a color page. Despite the default settings, many of our copiers at CEO have color capability. To update the setting when printing: File > Print > Printer Properties or Print Options or Page Set up > Color Mode.
Excel
Several respondents expressed interest in learning more about Excel. Excel is a very robust and powerful tool that can help many of us in our daily work tasks. If you are interested in learning more about Excel, please discuss with your immediate supervisor so we can collect more specific data on the types of training to offer.
Internet Speed
Some survey responses indicated frustrations with internet speed. Many behind the scenes upgrades have taken place over the last couple of years to improve the speed of the internet. If you feel you are experiencing slow internet speed, please put in a support ticket as soon as practicable so it may be investigated.
Intranet
Many suggestions were made regarding potential updates on the intranet. Stay tuned to the intranet to see those updates as we work through them. For example, the dress code is now available on the Human Resources page. If you see any forms or content on the intranet that is out of date, kindly send an email to marketing@ceoempowers.org.
iPads
Several users mentioned trouble with iPads or other Apple products throughout the agency. Thanks to your feedback, we are working to develop strategies for how to better utilize and support these tools. Please stay tuned and we appreciate your patience.
Once again, thanks to all for your feedback!
