ATTENTION: Please be aware of phishing email attempts

Apr 7, 2022 | IT

The IT Department has become aware of a growing number of phishing attempts being made against our agency. We’re asking that staff remain vigilant when reviewing incoming email. Keep the following tips in mind:

• Be suspicious of emails coming from CEO staff that are not from @ceoempowers.org emails.
• Always look at the “from” line on your incoming emails to confirm where an email is coming from.
• Follow up with staff via phone if you are receiving an unexpected request.
• Similarly, be suspicious of unusual requests from partners or other community members, and confirm requests via phone or a verified email account.
• Delete any phishing emails that you receive, and do not download any attached documents or click on any links.
• At this time, you do not need to forward the phishing attempts to IT.

Please note that as part of staff cybersecurity training, the IT Department may conduct simulated phishing attempts through our ProofPoint security software to aid with staff awareness and training in the future.
